Bethany - that is! She should still be 2! While their parents went to a church retreat Bethany & Nikki spent last weekend with us and we loved it. We don't get to see them enough! When mom & dad got back we had a little family birthday party.
One day we did a little shopping and Nikki made a friend!
Sophie & Nikki had a good time together. Sophie loves Nikki and copies every move and sound she makes. Nikki however has had a little bit of a hard time giving up being the baby, but did great this time.
Having grandchildren here, my knitting took a little vacation, but I have finished a couple of things lately.
I knitted a Navy watch cap for my son.
And finished and blocked Saroyan.
I'm in between big projects right now. I do have something OTN but am looking for another project. Spending a lot of time on Ravelry!
Just had to add these pictures. When I'm watching Sophie it can be a little difficult to cook, but I put her to work and she loved it. After washing hands really well, she broke and beat eggs, cut up cheese with a plastic knife and patted out biscuits. It took a little longer but was fun for both of us!

Birthday Week
This Thursday was my birthday and my sweet husband surprised me with these beautiful roses. He and our daughter also gave me a great spa day gift certificate that I can't wait to use (and dinner out). I also got some beautiful things from friends and lots of birthday wishes from friends on Facebook. (Don't you just love being able to reconnect with old friends, especially if you've moved away). So... even though I'm not crazy about birthdays coming faster and faster, I do have to say this one was pretty good!
Last weekend we finally got to see our son and his family, celebrate Christmas with them and have Nikki's 4th birthday party. Jon had been out to sea since July so we are so glad he is back and were so glad to get to see all of them.
We had a birthday party with our family and our daughter-in law's family too. These are the girls and their cousins.
Next month Sophie and Bethany have birthdays so we will do more celebrating!

Happy Birthday
Many important birthdays today .... first of all George, Father of our Country. Where would we be without him? Happy Birthday George!

Next, my cousin GT. We grew up next door to each other, played in the sandbox together and since I'm just a little older, I like to think I helped to make him what he is today! LOL After we both married and especially after I left the area we kind of drifted apart, only to see each other at funerals, etc., but with the magic of email we have reconnected and are trying to keep in touch at least occasionally.

This has been his life for the last few weeks. This was his backyard after the ice storm that hit Kentucky. He and his family are still dealing with the clean up. Wish him good birthday thoughts today and a nice peaceful, easy spring!
And last, but definitely not least - today my first granddaughter, B turns 12! I can't believe it. She is growing up into such a beautiful, sweet, smart, and Christian young lady. We had a birthday party with her a couple of weekends ago and she was having a sleep over at home last night. We love you - have a great day.

Merry Christmas
I hope you and your family have had a wonderful, safe Christmas. We are winding down at our house, but having an 11 year old and a 2 year old here all week has made it very fun!
They and their parents arrived last Friday night and after dinner since it was such a nice night we drove down to NC to this light display. Nikki was fascinated with all the lights, little decorated cabins, train sets, etc. It was great to see her enjoying it so much.

Saturday night we celebrated Nikki's 2-year birthday! She didn't really get the concept yet, but loved the cake, being the center of attention, and the presents!

Knitting and blogging have definitely taken a back seat to cooking, trying to keep enough clean towels for the next shower and clean dishes for the next meal. That and playing have occupied most of my time!
Christmas pictures later!
